Margaret Diercks-Henfling, an early childhood education teacher at the LYFE Program on Beach Channel Educational Campus, Queens has been named a winner of the NYC Department of Education Big Apple Award. Considered a leader throughout the LYFE program, her work goes beyond the classroom: she has mentored students, collaborated with community partners to provide nursing services, and helped start a cheerleading team at her high school.
