Here are some frequently asked questions about the LYFE program.

  • Q: Who can enroll in LYFE?
    A: If you are currently in and attending a NYC Department of Education school or program, you can use LYFE childcare services. Your child must be at least 8 weeks old and have all age-appropriate immunizations. Your child can remain enrolled in the LYFE program until the end of the school year in which s/he turns three years old.
  • Q: How do I enroll my child in LYFE?

  • Q: Do I have to pay anything for LYFE childcare or support services?
    A: No, LYFE is free for students enrolled in a NYC Department of Education school or program.
  • Q: What do I do if my school doesn’t have a LYFE site or the site I’m interested in is full?
    A: Select a site close to your home or school. Use LYFE’s directory or site locator to select a site. You do not have to attend the same school as the LYFE site you wish to enroll your child. You can enroll your child at any LYFE site.
  • Q: Can I stay at my school if I am pregnant or have a child?
    A: Yes, it is your right to stay at your school if you are pregnant or have a child. You are legally required to attend school through the end of the school year in which you turn 17 years old. If you are having trouble staying in your school, please contact a school staff member or one of the six referral centers.
  • Q: Who can I speak with if I have any questions?
    A: You can submit your contact information on our contact page and someone from the LYFE central team will get back to you within 24 hours. You can also contact a staff member at the LYFE site you are interested in enrolling in by referencing our LYFE locations map.
