Here are some frequently asked questions about the LYFE program.

Q: Who can enroll in LYFE?

A: Student Parents enrolled or age-eligible to enroll in an NYC DOE school or program; and have a child/children between the ages of 6 weeks and 4 years old (who are not age-eligible to enroll in Pre-K for All).

Q: How do I enroll my child in LYFE?

Q: Is there a fee for LYFE services?

A: No, LYFE services are free for students of NYC DOE student parents. 

Q: What do I do if my school doesn’t have a LYFE site or the site I’m interested in is full?

A: Select a site close to your home or school. Use LYFE’s directory or site locator to select a site. You do not have to attend the same school as the LYFE site you wish to enroll your child. You can enroll your child at any LYFE site.

Q: Can I stay at my school if I am pregnant or have a child?

A: Yes, it is your right to stay at your school if you are pregnant or have a child. You are legally required to attend school through the end of the school year in which you turn 17 years old. If you are having trouble staying in your school, please contact a school staff member or one of the six referral centers.

Q: Who can I speak with if I have any questions?

A: You can submit your contact information on our contact page and someone from the LYFE central team will get back to you within 24 hours. You can also contact a staff member at the LYFE site you are interested in enrolling in by referencing our LYFE locations map.

Q: Is LYFE only for teen moms?

A: LYFE services are inclusive and available to all student parents - both student mothers and student fathers as primary enrolling parents. Both a student mother and a student father can be enrolled in LYFE together as co-parents of a child or either parent can be enrolled in LYFE without the other parent.
